NSW: Easter road toll on day two equals last year s total
In a horrific start to the Easter break, 15 people have died on Australia's roads.
This is equal to the entire Easter road toll for last year.
Ten of the deaths have been in New South Wales, where packed holiday roads have combined
with torrential rain over the past 24 hours.
Police are calling on drivers to slow down, turn their headlights on and keep at least four
seconds distance from vehicles ahead.
Some of the fatal accidents have involved children knocked down by cars, including a
two-year-old girl on the New England Highway in New South Wales and a 13-year-old girl in
Adelaide.
And police are including the death of a 16-year-old boy hit by a train at a suburban
railway crossing.
The ten deaths in NSW are followed by two deaths each in Victoria and South Australia, and
one in Western Austraslisaa.
