NSW: Kosovars would be sent home to face death lawyer
A lawyer for the Kosovars, who lost their High Court legal bid to stay in Australia,
says some of the refugees will be sent home to their deaths.
BASIL NUREDINI made the announcement after Chief Justice MURRAY GLEESON handed down
his decision, saying some of the Kosovars would be killed or face jail terms on their
return to eastern Kosovo.
He says he thought the picture would be little better for Albanian refugees being sent
back to Serbia.
MR NUREDINI says today's decision by the High Court is the final legal step the Kosovars
can take to stay in the country and has appealed to Immigration Minister PHILIP RUDDOCK
to let them stay.
MR NUREDINI says he's had a number of the men come to him, appealing for him to ensure
their children aren't turned into orphans.
